Sod is a wonderful, productive young bull with excellent calves on the ground. He's easy to handle, good to look at and well worth having. We are keeping a number of his calves which sends him down the road. He has been an important part of our line breeding program to his Grand Sire.
This is a very pretty and productive 8 year old cow with heifer calf at side (7-20). Drought conditions are forcing us to reduce the herd. This cow has always done everything right.
HEIFERS FOR SALE
Thistledown heifers are bred for very hardy characteristics; good feet, good udders and good conformation. We also want our animals to have good hair coats and fore locks and look the way Highlands should look.

This growthy yearling heifer is out of one of our nice foundation cows. She is sired by a bull owned by another ranch. She was bred to be a replacement heifer for the ranch but range conditions force us to sell. She's an excellent representative of the breed.

Thistledown has a small cross breeding operation and this is one of the nicest crosses we have produced. This heifer looks like a pure bred Highland but will probably be a little faster growing and will produce excellent beef animals. She is truly the best of both worlds.

This yearling heifer comes from our southern, very rugged ranch country. The cattle there are checked once every 2 to 3 weeks, calve unassisted and are not fed even in the worst weather. These are Highlands that are doing what Highlands were by nature designed to do. This would be a good foundation heifer for meat production.

This weanling heifer is a product of our line breeding program using our Elizabeth based bull. Line breeding locks in characteristics be they good or bad, hence the necessity to do it only with your best stock. This heifer is a good example of good results.
CROSS BRED HEIFERS
We have a small cross breeding program. For those small farmers not interested in register animals and the expense involved, these crossbred heifers and steers are a bargin.
These heifers are the best of two worlds. They are Highland X Angus. For someone wanting heifers for beef production they are superior. You get the quality of the Highland beef and the wonderful mothering and calving advantages of the Highlands plus you get the faster growth of the Angus. They are also very good as a terminal cross and will produce excellent beef faster than a purebred.
Fuzzle is the perfect yearling bull. He has very strong Highland characteristics and the conformation that a good young bull should have. He's the son of our top cow and an out cross bull. He's very gentle. He is ready to go to work.

This is a small and very classic yearling bull. He is very attractive and gentle. He would be excellent on first calf heifers and for a breeder wanting smaller Highlands.
